PARENT NIGHT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

Thank you for your support at Q.E.'s Parent Night this past Monday!

It was great to start to get to know our parents, but let's face it, Monday night was just the beginning of our parent / teacher partnership!  We KNOW you heard and saw A TON of information and that can be overwhelming.  Let us start by focusing on a few goals to get the year started right:

• READING is important!   Please encourage your children to read by reading together, reading aloud, acting out exciting parts of stories, going to the library, borrowing books, reading online (with your watchful eye), etc.   AVOID FORCING IT.... Model it! (If your child won't read on his/her own, read to them for 15 minutes!)  Read EASY books if that is what they want to read!  Reading at home should be FUN and your child should choose things they WANT to read.  PLEASE JUST HELP YOUR CHILD KEEP TRACK OF TITLES of reading material by writing those titles in the planner.  THANKS!
• Homework Helps!  Math homework is given MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, and THURSDAY nights almost always.  Generally, there are no math assignments on weekends.   Expect occasional spelling and other tasks.  If your child is struggling with homework every night, please let us know and we can help!
• SNACK - Your child is welcome to bring in a snack and nibble at it during math class...  NOTHING STICKY or distracting, please.

4th and 5th grade will be running conferences following the middle school model. You will be assigned to meet with your child’s math teacher for 10 minutes and RELA teacher for 10 minutes. 

Remember:  A positive home-school connection

is the best way to help your child succeed.  Let’s build each other up this year… the students will benefit from lots of encouragement.

We know parenting is a tough job in this day and age… so is good teaching.  You are OUR PARTNERS in working for your child this year!
